After polluting Lake Superior for decades, Reserve Mining Company was shut down by Judge Miles Lord in 1974, who displayed leadership by being the first federal judge to hold a company accountable for their actions against the environment and thereby creating a legacy which holds companies responsible for their environmental impact.
