Lake Superior not only provides resources for the general public, it is also essential to major businesses. Ships carrying goods use the Great Lakes to get to the Atlantic Ocean. Lake Superior is essential to the shipping of resources, such as iron ore, coal, and grain. Companies also get water from Lake Superior that they use in their processing plants.
